ɬ Council, in partnership with the Helensburgh Outdoor Museum Design Panel, is inviting people to take part in an exciting opportunity to celebrate the town’s heritage.
The 'Put Your Town on a Pedestal' competition offers the chance to suggest an idea that celebrates the heritage of Helensburgh with a brand-new artwork for the Outdoor Museum in Colquhoun Square.
The winning idea will be developed in collaboration with a professional artist, who will design, produce, and install the final piece – valued at up to £6,000.
Whether it is a story, a symbol, or a tribute to the town’s rich history, this is your chance to help shape a lasting legacy in the heart of Helensburgh.
The competition is part of wider plans to develop the Outdoor Museum, using ring-fenced capital funds from the Council’s CHORD Project, agreed by councillors in 2018, and the Scottish Government’s Place Based Investment Fund.
Councillor Jan Brown, the council’s Depute Policy Lead for Business Development, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to get creative and celebrate what makes Helensburgh so special. The Outdoor Museum is a unique space that reflects the town’s identity, and we’re excited to see fresh ideas from the community. I encourage everyone to take part – your vision could become a permanent part of the town’s story.
“I’d also like to encourage communities in other parts of ɬ to explore more ideas like this. Communities can often access funding that the Council cannot. But we have resources within our teams to support organisations to build capacity, develop sound plans, access the right funding and manage the projects. Together, we can deliver what matters to our communities.”
To enter, visit The outdoor museum | Community Competition or call 01436 657635 for full competition details. The deadline for submissions is 10 November 2025.
Let your creativity shine and help put Helensburgh on a pedestal!
