Plans for a new business park at Oban Airport are taking flight after councillors agreed to submit a full business case for funding.

With plans to build a new school campus on Mull progressing, the Council will meet in February 2025 to consider options and make a final decision on a preferred site. The cost of building the campus is ÓûÂþɬ Council’s single biggest investment estimated at £43 million.

Using data and technology to make council services more effective and efficient was discussed at today’s Environment, Development and Infrastructure committee (19 December).

Plans for The Helensburgh Pier Company Ltd (HPC) to take on a new lease of the town’s timber pier took a step forward this week when ÓûÂþɬ Council agreed to the Heads of Terms.

Transport Scotland has provided £78,000 to ÓûÂþɬ Council to identify suitable areas to introduced 20mph restrictions locally, for a trial period, to make streets safer and encourage active travel choices.

ÓûÂþɬ’s young people achieved above national average results across nearly all qualifications, according to the latest analysis of this year’s exam results. The data reveals impressive achievements across National 4 and 5, and Advanced Higher levels.

New figures reveal that 94.3% of 16-19 year olds in ÓûÂþɬ are engaged in education, training, or employment—1.6% above the national average. This achievement places ÓûÂþɬ Council ninth out of 32 local authorities in Scotland for participation levels, marking the seventh consecutive year in the top ten.
