“I would like to wish all our staff, children and young people a very happy, well-deserved summer break.” Councillor Audrey Forrest, ɬ Council’s Policy Lead for Education reflects on a productive and busy end of term.
This last year has flown by and I’d like to reflect on the achievements of our young people and the staff who support them every day. From all our schools working hard to achieve gold, silver and bronze Rights Respecting Awards to climate change champions receiving eco-awards and everyone who took part in the Royal National Mòd in Oban. These are just some examples; I know there are great things happening every day with our children and young people.
This year marked an important milestone as we launched our revised Education vision and strategy Our Children, Their Future. Our young people have been instrumental in helping to shape the way they learn and develop. Based on their experiences, this guiding document outlines priority areas for the council to deliver, to help them thrive.
We’re so lucky to have a dedicated team of teachers, school staff and parents who are committed to ensuring our children and young people learn have the best opportunities to enable them to thrive. Thank you for everything you do.
Every day I hear about all the positive things happening across our education settings and I’m really proud of what you’re achieving across ɬ.
For everyone starting a new education journey, whether getting ready to go to an Early Learning Centre (ELC), starting Primary School or Secondary School, I wish you all the very best, we can’t wait to see you. For now, I hope you all have a lovely well-earned break, recharge your batteries and we’ll see you for a new term in August.”
