Planet Youth community event for Oban families

Join us at the ‘Growing Up in Oban’ community fayre, a fantastic free event designed to connect parents, carers, and young people with the wide range of opportunities available in the local community.

Come along to the Corran Halls in Oban on Sunday 21 September, from 10 am to 2 pm and meet the local clubs, sports, and activities available for children and young people in Oban. A free, family-friendly event packed with local groups, volunteer opportunities, and community spirit.

Hosted by the ɬ Planet Youth Team, this event is a collaboration between ɬ Council and the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).

On the day, there will be a mix of clubs and activities from gymnastics, ballet, music, army cadets to youth  groups and volunteering opportunities.

Councillor Fiona Howard, Depute Policy Lead for Education:

“We all want our children and young people growing up in ɬ to be happy and healthy with opportunities to succeed in life. Our Planet Youth Team is working in partnership to promote local activities that can help our young people thrive.

By bringing together key partners and communities, we can highlight the range of support available to help families and the opportunities on your doorstep for young people.

I would encourage parents and carers to come along to the event and find out more about local leisure activities available to you.”

Planet Youth is inspired by the successful Icelandic model of prevention, focusing on creating a healthier environment for our young people to thrive. By building a strong network of support with all relevant partners, the initiative aims to support children, young people, and families in local communities.
