Fees and Charges

Prices from 1st April 2026

When you book a Registrar for your special day, you’re not just booking someone to turn up and say a few official words you’re booking a complete package that takes care of everything you need to be legally married in Scotland.

Our ceremony fees include:

  • A Registrar to attend your chosen venue and conduct the ceremony
  • The processing of your legal marriage notices
  • Your official marriage certificate posted to you afterwards

We like to keep things simple and stress-free no surprise add-ons here! However, please note that fees are subject to change at any time throughout the year. To make sure you’re paying the correct amount, we recommend speaking with your local Registrar before you submit your marriage paperwork. They’ll confirm the current fee and guide you through the next steps.

Payment can be made by:

  • Debit or credit card
  • Cash
  • Bank transfer
  • Cheque (made payable to ÓûÂþɬ Council)

Travel Costs

If your ceremony is taking place at a venue other than a registration office, travel charges will apply.

  • Travel is charged at a flat rate of 60p per mile (based on a round trip from the local registration office).
  • Ferry fares, if required, will be added at standard return rates.

For an exact travel fee for your ceremony location, please get in touch with your Registrar, they’ll be happy to help.

Running Late?

We understand that sometimes things don’t go exactly to plan. If there’s a significant delay to your agreed ceremony start time, an additional fee of up to £60 may apply to cover the Registrar’s extended time.
